Starting school is a major transition for young children and marks the beginning of an important new phase in their lives. With this in mind, and the fact Kindergarten is often the first contact children and their families have with the school community, St Anthony’s takes extra care in helping children and their families make the move into school as enjoyable and rewarding as possible.
Our Kindergarten cares for each student and their family. Your child will experience a safe, stimulating environment with the opportunity to discover new friends, develop an understanding of school life and experience real life learning.
Our Kindergarten classroom is very spacious with a variety of learning stations catering for literacy, numeracy, creativity, imagination, exploration and specific interests.
The learning experiences are designed to promote the development of the whole child in the areas of social, physical, emotional, intellectual and faith.
The outdoor learning environment has been recently re-landscaped ( 2012) masterly designed by the expertise of Early Childhood educators, School Board, groundsman and parents. It offers students rolling grass hills, a large life-like road bike track with traffic signage, a natural environmental play area with a variety of trees and shrubs for students to play and explore, and a large creek of recycled pumped water with bridges over the top for students to investigate. We have a large covered sandpit, adventure playground, a variety of ground textures, painting area, three slides, sun sail, and play deck. This is the kinder experience of the day and the future, having designed the plans to meet the new Federal Government legislation requirements for Early childhood outdoor learning outcomes.
The school has full time qualified staff working with the class, including a dedicated teacher and dynamic teacher assistant/s. Parents/ carers and grandparents are also encouraged and most welcome to assist with activities, rostered throughout the course of the year at their convenience. All volunteers are legally required to have a Working With Vulnerable People Check.
We aim to prepare our Kindergarten students with a solid foundation and love of learning. We provide children with a sound introduction to fundamental literacy and numeracy skills.
Kindergarten classes are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework. Students enjoy programs taught by specialist teachers in the subjects of Music and Physical Education and have weekly visits to the school library. Students also have access to a range of lap tops and Ipads for learning.
Kindergarten is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8.55a.m. to 2.55 p.m.
